Mandrake 10.1 Community is a preview of Mandrake 10.1. For
those who live on the edge, that means it's a buggy, early version of the
upcoming 10.1 release. The main features are pretty much locked in, only bug
fixes will be applied from here outIt's up to folks in the community, however, to try it out and report those bugs. Those community members do for you, so your release can be stable and bug free.
If 10.1 is a preview of things to come in 10.1 Official, we've got a lot to look forward to! It seems that Mandrake has finally accepted it's role as the power-house, number one Linux distribution. The whole look and feel of Mandrake 10.1 screams out that they're ready to show the world just what they can do and that there's a reason they're the number one distribution. If you ever thought Linux wasn't ready for the desktop, just wait until you get your hands on Mandrake 10.1.
I tested Mandrake 10.1 Community on a Compaq Armada m700, 800 Mhz PIII with 128 Mb of RAM, a 6 Gb hard drive and an ATI Mobility m/p video card. Even though it's a community edition, I'm hard pressed to find any bugs in this release. Everything went so smooth you'd think that it was the official release.
