UserLinux is a Linux distribution publicly launched by Bruce Perens in November 2003. The goal of UserLinux is to: "Provide businesses with freely available, high quality Linux operating systems accompanied by certifications, service, and support options designed to encourage productivity and security while reducing overall costs. This review will focus on the UserLinux Desktop, which can be run from a
LiveCD. You can download the current version (0.2) of the LiveCD from here: http://hams.com/Mirror/userlinux-live-0.2.iso.
After you download the ISO file and burn it to a CD and reboot, the LiveCD will
boot UserLinux. The current LiveCD is based on Morphix but includes the
UserLinux package selction. As such, all my hardware was detected except the
D-Link wireless network card. However, I used my wired Linksys card to access
the Internet. Here
is a screenshot of the Web browser and the desktop.
