The FreeBSD PHP ports have been rearranged recently causing some problems
with PHP installation on FreeBSD. I Discovered, after my php install did not work any longer, that the FreeBSD PHP 4.3.8 port has been rearranged as of 4.3.8-1. If you update your system via cvsup you probably had problems with your php after the update 2 nights ago.
I got everything working again by uninstalling php 4.3.8 with pkg_delete php4-4.3.8,1, than I installed php4-extensions from /usr/ports/lang/php4-extensions ( make install clean )
Hopefully in the future they ensure the port changes are backward compatible or at least document the change
